NETWORK ENGINEER

 

Scheffel Boyle is currently seeking a full-time Network Engineer to join our growing team. Our firm has seen great growth and success over the last few years, and we need a qualified, motivated Network Engineer to join our dynamic team and continue our success in the regions we serve.

For this position, we are looking for a self-starter with 2-6 years of experience in the Network Interface/Administration sectors and/or related fields in the IT industry. This person must be experienced but also extremely motivated to obtain a career, not just a job. The chosen Network Engineer will work closely with Scheffel Boyle Principals and our current IT Professional in implementing technology to enhance the service we offer our clients.

 

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Primary duties include regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and evaluation of various infrastructure systems such as LAN, WAN, databases, and security software.
  • Desktop and general software support, including server maintenance, will be required
  • Oversee as well as be hands-on with conversions, migrations, and implementation strategies of the infrastructure.
  • Manage and update, when necessary, the telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Work both on teams and independently to produce effective results regarding IT maintenance and support
  • Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel, and outside vendors, etc. to provide technical assistance and support
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, Email Routing, SPAM, etc)
  • Stays current with new technologies, trends and related practices in the industry, and determines when and if new technology is appropriate for the firm.
  • Travel will be required, with mileage reimbursement

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Associate Degree and/or the equivalent Technical Certifications in related fields required
  • Bachelors Degree in IT, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 2-6 years of experience in working with infrastructure operations, networks, and systems
  • Experience working for a professional services firm is a plus, but not required
  • Hands-on experience in supporting, building, and configuring a network.
  • Hands-on experience and training in network management and support. This includes Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Servers, WAN, LAN, Network Security, Windows Operating System configuration and support (server and workstation), Terminal server, DNS, DHCP, SQL, VMware virtualization.
  • Project Management and Desktop Support experience required.
  • Knowledge of 2003-2008 server environment and Windows 7 Desktop environment
